Satellite Network (Simplified)

A satellite phone connects with satellites that are within its lions of sight. The satellite relays the signal to another satellite or to a base station and then from base station through the telephone network.

Depending on the type of phone you have, calls from one satellite phone to another will work in one of two ways:

  • Satellite phone A to satellite, then to base station.Base station to satellite and then to satellite phone B, or

  • Satellite phone A to satellite and direct to satellite phone B
