double language - some of the language in the poem can be read in a different way after finding out that she's actually killed the man rather than just sleeping with him. Black humour is used - horrible and funny

"rather matted...reddish beard...crimson mouth" realise that hair is tangled with blood and all the stains are occurring from BLOOD
