Aim: To test the hypothesis that psychiatrits cannot reliably tell the difference between people who are sane and those who are insane, using the DSM.

Sample: 12 hospitals in 5 different states of the USA.

Method: Field experiement.

Procedure: 1st Experiment: 8 sane people attempted to gain admission to the hospitals. They said they were hearing voices saying 'empty, hollow and thud', pseudo-patients gave a false name and job. They took notes on staff…
