Courtly love

• Refers to the idea that love shoud be approached in a gentlemanly way. Gentlemen should romance women with grand gestures and poetic speechs. Love should not be declared in a direct or crude way but instead the process of romancing a women should be a gradual one. Not sexually driven, she should not 'satisfy' her male suitor until marriage
