Who: Schubert, Schumann, Mendelssohn, Liszt, Chopin, Wagner, Strauss, Mahler (all German).

Instruments: 

• Piano with sustain pedal. Harps.
• New Bass clarinet and Contra bassoon.
• French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone. Valves invented.<---- Romantic music is BRASS and woodwind heavy! 
• Lots of metal and wooden percussion. More timpani.

New Ensembles:

• Solo Piano. 
• String Orchestra (String section from orchestra)
• Large Orchestras, often including a large chorus. 

Genre:

• Etude. Virtuoso piece written to improve your skill. 
• Concerto Soloist is usually a piano or violin.
