Robert Browning

§  He was born on May 7^th 1812. He was born in Camberwell, England.

§  Some people believe that he could already read quite well at the age of five and learned Latin, Greek and French by the age of fourteen.

§  At the age of twelve, he wrote a volume of Byronic verse which his parents tried to have published but was unsuccessful.

§  A cousin of Browning gave him a collection of Percy Bysshe Shelley’s poems and loved it so much that he asked for more of Shelly’s work for his next birthday.
