Contour lines tell the direction a river flows
- they are the orange lines on a map
- they say the height of land in metres shown by the numbers next to them (in orange)
- the steepness of the slope is shown by how close the lines are together, the closerthe steeper
- rivers can't flow uphill, a river flows from higher contour lines to lower ones.
they have evidence for river courses and landforms
