Why some Christians use a variety of authorities in making moral decisions.


Protestants- Might usually consult the Bible because it is straightforward to use teachings such as the 10 commandments and the Sermon on the Mount when dealing with issues such as stealing, murder and adultery.

However when it comes to contemporary issues such as contraception or civil partnerships it is difficult to ise the Bible as it is heavily influence by the time period, saying nothing about contraception or civil partnerships.


Catholics-  Would normally follow the authority of the Church, as the Magisterium applies to
