Right realism- crime is crime

Right realism- crime is crime

·         Situational crime prevention/ being tough on criminals

·         Focus on individuals rather then wider social issues

·         Individuals chose crime/ so must be dissuaded from doing so

·         If they cannot be dissuaded- must be punished

·         Have two main polices situational crime prevention and increased social control

Situational crime prevention

·         Deprives from opportunity theories of crime such as routine activity theory (Felson/Clarke) and rational choice theory (Cornish and Clarke)

·         Routine activity theory suggest crime occurs as part of everyday routines when 3 conditions are present

-          There is a suitable target

-          No capable
