INCREASING INSTABILITY 1484-85

  • Only 1 parliament called – 1484 – passed law of princes illegitimacy and passing Act of attainders.

  • Attention drawn to death of his son in 1484 and wife in 1485.

  • He was defeated by the Scottish, and James III – lost key revenue.

  • Main problem = Henry Tudor.

  • Unable to arrange treaty with king of France – traditionally supported Lancastrians.

  • Gave lower nobles higher standing – causes resentment.

  • Contemporary Historian Rous – Richard = model king – loved by subjects → when Henry was king,
