Glycolysis

  • Occurs in the cytoplasm of cels
  • 1. Glucose phosphorylated using 2 ATP
  • 2. Phosphorylated Glucose splits into 2 TP
  • 3. Two TP oxidated, resulting in 2 molecules of pyruvate, 4 ATP and 2 reduced NAD
  • Net gain fo 2 ATP

Link Reaction

  • Occurs in matrix of mitochondria
  • 1. Pyruvate oxidised, reducing NAD
  • 2. Pyruvate decarboxylated, producing CO2
  • 3. Acetate + CoenzymeA = AcetylCoA

Krebs Cycle

  • Occurs in matrix of mitochondria
  • 1. AcetylCoA combines with 4C molecule to form 6C molecule
  • 2. 6C molecule decarboxylated -
