Respiration

Respiration is controlled by enzymes. It is NOT breathing in and out, it is the process of converting glucose into energy. This occurs in every cell in the mitochondria.

There are 2 types of respiration;

Aerobic respiration

• This can only occur when lots of oxygen is present in a cell.
• It occurs all the time in organisms (plants and animals) because it is the most efficient type of respiration.
