Respiration is the process of releasing energy from the breakdown of glucose. 

Aerobic respiration is respiration using oxygen. it releases energy from oxygen, goes on all the time and occurs inside the mitochondria.

Glucose+oxygen = Carbon dioxide+water+SOME energy

Energy released by aerobic respiration is used for:

  • to build larger muscles from smaller ones (proteins from amino acid)
  • to allow muscles to contract (animals)
  • to keep the body temperature steady (mammals…
