Different types of experimental methods are:

  • a laboratory experiment where control of the extraneous variable is greatest, but demand characteristics also likely to be greatest. Participants allocated conditions.
  • field experiment IV is controlled, but extraneous variables aren't to such an extent. Participants aren't always allocated conditions.
  • natural experiment is not directly manipulating the IV. It is not a true experiment…
