Research into multi store model and criticisms

?

Glanzer and Curitz (1966)

  • Aim: Investigating evidence for seperate memory stores.
  • Procedure: -Participants were shown a list of words.
-They were then asked to recall the words in any order.
-Participants were divided into two groups.
-One group recalled the words immediateley.
-One group counted backwards and then recalled their words.
  • Findings: -The immediate recall group remembered the first and last words best.
-The delayed recall group remembered the first words best.
  • Conclusion:  Findings support the concept of separte memory stores by showing that delayed recall interfered with STM
