Definition

• prosthodontics is the branch of dentistry concerned with the replacement of missing teeth
• a removable prosthesis is the same as a denture
• dentures are either complete (replace all missing teeth in the jaw) or partial (replacing only some missing teeth)
• made of acrylic (full name - polymethyl methacrylate)
• allergic reactions can occur
• both teeth and gum are replaced
