6.1 Religion, Peace and Conflict

• The Christian Church may speak out against killing, and the teachings of Jesus do not support it. However many Christians have been prepared to fight for their country
• Some Christians who disagree with war try to prevent it from happening e.g. Quakers

Peace

• Peace could be the absence of war
• Intention of war is to "create peace", however this rarely is the case
• Peace can also be felt as feelings of happiness, well being and tranquility
• This can oftern come through religious faith, especially in prayer and meditation 
• Peace helps brings calmness that helps to avoid quarrels and disputes with other people
• "He will judge between the nations and will settle disputues for many peoples. They will beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war any more."

Justice

• Wars can be fought to achieve justice
