The origin of the universe
Universe- all of the timespace and its contents including planets, stars, galaxies, and the contents of intergalactic space, the smallest subatomic particles, and all matter and energy.
Genesis 1:1
He created the earth out of nothing. Doesn’t make scientific proof, no evidence
Fundamentalist- statements in the bible are literally true
Liberals- symbolism- don’t take it word for word
BIg Bang- trace it back to beginning The big bang is how astronomers explain the way the universe began. It is the idea that the universe began as just a single point, then expanded and stretched to grow as large as it is right now (and it could still be stretching).
Evolution- fit natural environment
Science has made the creation story unbelievable
The creation story is made up to explain what nobody knows
There has to be a creator
The value of the world
Stewardship - the idea that believers have a duty to look after the environment on behalf of God
Dominion - dominance or power over something; having charge over something or ruling over it.
Awe - a feeling of devout respect, mixed with fear and wonder
Wonder -marvelling at the complexity and beauty of the universe
Psalm 8:3-4
When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?
Romans 1:20 God's divine nature can be seen
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
Genesis 1:28
God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
Stewardship
Genesis 2:15- adam was given the task of looking after the garden of eden.
As stewards, christins believe that people have been appointed by God and respect and manage the world working with God to preserve what God has given

Buddhists world consider whether it is the right action and if it is the right intention. If they do not care for the earth, it could negatively affect their karma meaning that they would not be able to achieve enlightenment.

Christians job to care for the earth as God gave it to them- stewardship. Care for future generations
The use and abuse of the environment
Environment- the natural world; the surroundings in which someone lives
Natural resources- materials found in nature- oil trees- that can be used by people
Abuse- misuse; of the world and the environment
Sustainable development- building and progress that try to reduce the impact on the natural world for future generations
