Sternal notch is level with T2/3.

1-7 Are true ribs, this means they are directly attached by costal cartilage.

8-12 are false ribs, this means that they are indirectly attached by costal cartilage.

11 and 12 are floating ribs

Thoracic cage (ribs) are bounded above by the thoracic inlet (1st rib and T1), they are bounded below by the thoracic outlet (diaphragm)
