• When and whee tropical storms will hit land can be predicted. Scientists use data from things like radar,satelites and aircraft to track the storm. computer models are used to calculate a predicted path of a storm. it gives people time to evacuate.

• Emergecy service can train and prepare for disasters. e.g by practising rescuing people from flooded areas with helicopters.
