Reducing and preventing the spread of diseases

SPREAD OF DISEASE CAN BE REDUCED/PREVENTED IN ANIMALS 

If a disease spreads uncontrollably, it can result in huge loss of life and food sources.

PREVENT

1)HYGENIC-basic hygiene measures (washing hands) prevent spread of disease.

2)STERILISING WOUNDS-kills microorganisms(including pathogens) near the wound so stops them entering the blood.

3)SANITARY CONDITIONS-acces to clean water and good system for disposing of sewage are both very effective in reducing water-borne pathogens e.g.cholera, and pathogens in urine or faeces of infected people. However creating sanitary conditions are costly.

4)DESTROYING INFECTED ANIMALS- in some cases, such as farms with large herds of animals, it might be nessasary to kill infected individuals to prevent large numbers of other animals getting the disease. However could be costly as disease maybe present in animals without…
