Redox titrations
Redox is concerned with the movement of electrons, we can devide this up into two processes.An oxidation reactions which is a loss of electrons and a reduction reaction which is gain of electrons.These reactions never appear on there own.You can follow these reactions by looking at the change inoxidation state: if oxidation has occured the oxidation number will have increased and if reduction has occured then the oxidation number will have increased. An oxidising agent is a substance which brings about oxidation itself reduced , a reducing agent is good at losing electrons and bring about reduction, however it becomes reduced itself.
