Organised packages of information which stores our knowledge

Helps us fill in the gaps when recalling information

We remember parts of an event and not an exact copy of the experience

We fill in the gaps using stereotypes and expectations

Uses imaginative reconstruction:

Levelling - simplifies events

Sharpening - highlighting and emphasising

Assimilating - changing
