Recommendations of the Report and the 1834 Ammendment Act

RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE REPORT:

• the report was published in 1834
• the first half gave details on corrupt administration and demoralised paupers
• whereas the second half gave recommendations
• commissioners recommended a radical change aimed to save money and efficiency;
  - separate workhouses for old, infirm, children, able-bodided men and women
  - parishes would group into Poor Law unions and provide these workhouses
