Water into wine
According to the Gospel of John, this was the very first miracle – or ‘sign’ as John calls them – which Jesus did.
Jesus, his mother and his disciples were all guests at a wedding in Cana, in Galilee. At the reception, the wine runs out– which would be regarded as a social disaster by the families involved. Mary tells Jesus about this and then goes to the servants and tells them to do exactly as Jesus tells them to do.
