REACTION RATE

  • It is the change in the amount of reactants or products per unit time
  • If reactants are in solution, the rate= change in concentration per second (units moldm-3s-1)

RATE EQUATION

  • Rate equations tells you how the rate is affected by concentration of reactants
  • m and n are orders of the reaction with respect to reactants A and B
  • m tells you how concentration of A affects rate and n tells you the same for B
  • If A changes and rates stays the same the order of A=0
  • If rate is proportional to A the order of A=1
  • If rate is proportional to A squared
