Reaction rate tells you how fast reactants are converted to products

The rate can be worked out from the gradient of a graph - amount of reactant or product on y axis and time on x axis , reaction rate is the gradient of the graph. 

Gradient = Change in Y / Change in X 

The rate equation links reaction rate to reactant concentrations . For a general reaction A+B -> C + D the rate equation is;

Rate = K [A]m[B]n

m and n are the orders of reaction and k is the rate constant

Orders of reaction tell you how the reactant concentrations affect the rate.
