A purpose clause (expressing the aim or intention with which somethin is done) uses ut followed by a subjunctive verb (present or imperfect by simple sequence).
UT + SUBJUNCTIVE= PURPOSE
The negative 'ne' is used at the start of the clause instead of ut.
The translation 'to' often works…
