A 'Pure Land' is the abode of a heavenly buddha or bodhisattva, which they use as a place where they can teach their followers in an advanced way, free from many of the samsaric impediments
- They are created by the karmic merit that a buddha has stored up and then transferred into making a personalised 'heaven'
