Chaney's study uderlines the belief th positiv reinforcement will increase compliance,specifically in relation to medicatd inhalers and children

METHOD...

-field experiment

DV; their compliance towards the medication, recordrs through self report questions by the parents

PP'S; 32 children, 22 male and 10 female (age range of 1-6 years)

-oppurtunity sampling from Australia

PROCEDURE...

-carried out over 2 weeks

-parents gave informed consent, also complete self report questionare and interview with closed questions in regards to childs complaince levels with normal inhaler

THE FUNHALER IS...

- a brightly coloured inhaler with rotating discs whci activate and encourage deep breathing. Helps promote self reinforcement

RESULRS...

-compliance rose from 59 to 81%

-pleasure increased from 10 to 68%

-problems such as fear of using an inhaler and the inability to breathe deeply was overcame aswell

-help improve clinical outcomes and decrease the amount of asthma attacks amitted to…
