Bernard Hermann 1911 - 1975
American composer + conductor. Studied at Juilliard School, NewYork -modernist + experimental style. Conducted premieres of new classical works 1930s - 40s. Comprehensive knowledge of 20th century styles, which he used in Oscar winning, ground breaking film music.
Alfred Hitchcock 1899 - 1980
English film director + producer - the "Master of Suspense". Started in British silent movies, then moved to Hollywood 1939 (became US citizen 1955). Over 50 feature films in a successful career. Storylines often feature a fugitive and a blone female character. Inventive camera angles + editing used to maximize fear or empathy with character (voyeurism - shaky camera angle like spy)
