Gray and seligman proposed that humans are biologically prepared to frath certian animals, eg snakes, this assumption is based on three main pieces of evidence; the distribution of animals is not random, with some fears being more common than others, the age that phobias are developed is always around 4 years old, and sufferers of animal phobias often have no expierience with the animals. Seligman thought prepared fears are to aid the survival of the species.
