Protein = whole chain of amino acids.

There are 4 main types of protein:

Catalysts: in form of enzymes
Antibodies: destroy pathogens
Structural components: muscles and tendons
Hormones: e.g oestrogen

Enzymes are biological catalysts. Enzymes break down substrates in a lock and key reaction. In this process, a substrate collides with the active site of the enzyme to form an enzyme substrate complex. The enzyme breaks the substrate into two simpler products. The enzyme doesn't change in the reaction, so the cycle starts again.
