Proteins
- Contain Ozygen, Hydrogen, Carbion and Nitrogen
- Large compunds made up up amino acids
- There are loads of different Proteins and the differ by the specific sequence of the amino acids
- All amino acids have the same basic structure; have a carboxyl group an amino group and a different R group
Formation of a Peptide Bond
- Proteins built from linear sequence of amino acids
- The amino group of one amino acid react with the carboxyl group of another with the elimination of water (condensation reaction)
- The bond between the two amino acids is called a Peptide Bond
- A dipeptide is formed
