Proteins

  • Contain Ozygen, Hydrogen, Carbion and Nitrogen
  • Large compunds made up up amino acids

  • There are loads of different Proteins and the differ by the specific sequence of the amino acids
  • All amino acids have the same basic structure; have a carboxyl group an amino group and a different R group 

Formation of a Peptide Bond

  • Proteins built from linear sequence of amino acids
  • The amino group of one amino acid react with the carboxyl group of another with the elimination of water (condensation reaction)
  • The bond between the two amino acids is called a Peptide Bond
  • A dipeptide is formed
