Protein Synthesis
Protein synthesis is the process of how cells make proteins.
Within Protein synthesis there are two stages. These are called Transcription and Translation.
Transcription:
Transcription is the first stage. It is where the relevant gene in the DNA in the nucleus is 'copied' into a molecule of RNA called messenger RNA or mRNA.
RNA is very similar to DNA. It just has one strand rather than two and is shorter than DNA. This is so that the RNA can exit the nucleus through nuclear pores whereas DNA can't. (This DOES NOT happen during Transcription)!
