proteins

protein is needed for growth, repair and maintenance.

we get protein from a wide range of food like meat, fish, dairy products, nuts, seeds and beans. proteins are made up of amino acids, our bodies can make some amino acids which are called non-essential amino acids. we need to eat the amino acids our bodies can't make the essential amino acids. proteins have different biological values. high biological values contain all of the essential amino acids we need they are mainly found in animal sources, for example, meat, fish, poultry, eggs, cheese and milk. soya beans are also plant-based HBV protein foods.

low biological value proteins are missing 1 or more essential amino acids we need they are only found in plant sources for example
