Surface Tension:
- Elastic tendency of liquids
- They occupy the smallest surface area possible
- How easily a liquid can resist an external force
Cohesion and Adhesion of Water:
- Water is attracted to water
- Water is attracted to other substances
SHC of Water:
- Amount of heat per unit mass is required to raise the temperature by 1 degrees Celsius.
- Water heated up slower which means it has a higher SHC as it has strong hydrogen bonds which means that more energy is required to break them.
- This means it provides a stable temperature for living things
- High SHC
- Water acts as a buffer…
