There are 2 migration processes:
- Chain migration
- Step migration
Chain Migration
Migrants from a particular area follow others from that area to a particular area. The destination may be in another country or in a new location within the same country. People are more likely to move to where people they know live.
Examples:
- Mexicans in Santa Barbara
- North Koreans in New Malden
Occurs as result of PULL & PUSH factors such as:
- Higher wages in the broccoli farms of Santa Barbara + large Mexican community
- Railway link to Waterloo + large Korean community (10,000 South Koreans in New Malden makes up…
