Population increase

  • The population grew from 2.8 million to 4 million (43% increase) 
  • This meant that there was an increases in workers available. 
  • This also meant that landlords could increase the price of rent for their land- this was called rack renting 
  • Londons population grew from 60,000 to 2,000,000 in 1600
