Lithography works on the principle that oil and water do not mix, but repel each other. Modern offset lithography is used to produce posters, books, newspaper, packaging, credit cards, decorated CDa- just about any flat-surfaced, mass-production item with print on it.
- The printing plate, made from a flexible aluminium pr polymer, is fixed to the plate cylinder on the priting press. The printing plate carries the design, such as text and photographs on a magazine page, formed using an oil-based emulsion.
