The study of inter-relationships between organisms and their environment

Abiotic – non-living components e.g. temperature, oxygen + water availability

Biotic – living components e.g. competition and predation


Made up of all the interacting abiotic and biotic features of a specific area.

Species are made up of many groups of individuals called populations.


A group of organisms who are reproductively isolated (Can't breed successfully with another species) so that they can successfully reproduce to produce fertile offspring.
