Ethene - Alkane

Highly flammable - could be used as a fuel

To use for other uses, use different reaction

Make the molecules in the ethene gas into a long chain

Turns it into polyethene - type of plastic

Used for bottles, bags and many other uses

The individual molecules are called monomers

When all the monomers are put in a chain to turn it into a plastic, they are called polymers

This whole process is called polymerisation

Ethen monomers consist of 2 carbon atoms joined with a double bond with 4 hydrogens attached - C2H4
