1. How to name polymers?
Add 'poly' to the monomer. Eg: the monomer ethene becomes poly(ethene)

2. How are the fractions of Crude Oil seperated?
By fractional distillation. The short chain fractions with low boiling points come off first at the top of the fractionating column.

3. What is cracking?
Breaking down of long chain alkanes into a short chain alkane and an alkene by breaking a C-C covalent bond.
It is important because long chain alkanes are in higher supply than demand wheras short chain alkanes are in higher demand than supply.
