POSIONED LAKES

Human Impact on the natural environment

Waste that is not recycled has to go somewhere.

The table shows that happens to some common types of rubbish.

Eventually the environment breaks down the rubbish or spreads it around so much that it becomes safe.

Domestic refuse-Buried underground or burnt

Faeces - Cleaned at sewage works  and the remains passes into rivers

Waste Gases- Passed into the atmosphere and spread out to safe levels

The Damage done by waste depends on:

  • HOW MUCH IS PRODUCED
  • HOW DANGEROUS IT IS
  • HOW QUICKLY  THE ENVIRONMENT CAN DEAL WITH IT

Sometimes the environment cannot deal with the waste quickly
