"paper that lets the light shine through,"
-Paper is used to symbolyses man kind, fragil and easy to break, like paper but at the same time powerful, words and actions can have a huge impact.
- It shows nature to shine through mans power.
-Theme of religion / conflict, "light" could be a metaphor for jesuse as he is seen as the light of the world, through out history we see that religion is one of the main cause of conflict it.
- It symbolyses purity, the whiteness of paper shows it to be clean something that we are not.
- Ancient religious books are often written on flimsy parchment or vellum. It also evokes the imagery of the stained glass window in a church, where the light of God shines through.

-The poet describes the details that make up our lives.
The language here is of practical information, a samantic field of everyday facts; names, measurements, dates.
-The rhyming of ‘weight’ and ‘date’ at the end of the next line reinforce the connection between the two and give the stanza unity.
