Pneumothorax
What is it? - It is a collapsed lung , it occurs when air gets into the space between the outside of your lung and the inside of your chest wall, your ribcage
A small pneumothorax may cause little to no symptoms, howver a large pneumothorax can squash the lung and cause it to collapse
The severity depends on the amount of air that gets trapped in the lungs and if the patient has a pre exisiting respiratory conditon.
The air that acccumaltes in the pleural sopace usually comes from a tear on the oustide of the lung but the air can also come from outide of the body if you have a chest injury
