Membranes 

Membranes are made up of 2 molecules: 

• Phospholipid, which forms the bulk of the membrane 
• Proteins, that are scattered around the membrane 

Phospholipids 

• Lipid molecule 
• Made out of Gylcerol molecule awith a phosphate group and 2 fatty acid chains 
• Phosphate group is hydrophillic (water loving)- hydrophillic heads 
• Fatty acid groups are hydrophobic (water hating)- hydrophobic tails  
• They form a phospholipid bilayer 
• There is water inside and outside the cell
