Pilgrimage of Grace

Causes:

• Devout Christians peasants in Yorkshire were angered at King Henry's church reform. But the king was head of the church - this revolt could be seen as an act of treason.
• The leader of the movement was lawyer Robert Aske, he made it look as though the pilgrims were not against the king.

Aims:

• Restore monasteries
• Make Pope the head of church
• Dismiss advisor Cromwell and other bad advisors

Events:
