Radiation - Thermal energy travels from the sun via infra-red rays by radiation. Thes may travel in straight lines and can be absorbed, reflected and emmited by surfaces.
Conduction - Thermal energy passes through a solid by means of vibrations of the particles. Particles which are given extra heat will vibrate faster and further to each side and they pass on energy to other particles [neighbours].
