conduction
conduction occurs through solids and liquids. Metals are good thermal conductors. Materials that do not conduct are called Insulators - many non metals are good insulators
Convection
Convection occurs through liquids and gases. Convection currents transfer heat from the radiator to the room.
Warm air rises, so the cooler air falls, then the cooler air moves in to replace the rising air.
